Özcan Ulucan was born in the city of Shumen (Bulgaria) into a Turkish family where arts and humanity were most admired. In 1979 he started his music education with Zdravka and Vesselin Spirov in the same city. In 1984 he moved with his family to the city of Varna and continued his music education at the "D. Hristov" Music Highschool, studying in the class of G. Burova. In 1989 Ulucan immigrated with his family to Turkey due to political repression over the Turkish minority. There he continued his music studies at Istanbul University Music Academy and Mimar Sinan University Music Academy, graduating from the latter in 1993. The same year Ulucan won a Study Credit from the Turkish Educational Foundation (TEV) wich financed a postgraduate study at Guildhall School of Music and Drama-London where he studied in the Violin class of Yfrah Neaman and Interpretation&Improvisation class of David Dolan. In 1995 he returned to Turkey and acomplished a Master of Music Study at Hacettepe University Concervatory in Ankara with the Russian violinist Viktor Pikaizen. In 1998 the artist went to Germany and got on with his music studies for two years with the violinist Joshua Epstein at Saarland Music Academy in Saarbrücken-Germany. Between 2000-2004 he completed his academic studies with a Soloistic Diploma on Violin and Viola with Maxim Vengerov. During his studies at Saarland Music Academy Ulucan joined the Chamber Music lessons of the clarinetist Eduard Brunner and the Jazz Improvisation sessions of the jazz pianist Georg Ruby.

Between 2002 and 2006 Özcan Ulucan played duo concerts with Maxim Vengerov, together with English Chamber Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Borusan Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra London in concert halls and festivals such as Royal Albert Hall London, Konzerthaus Berlin, Lütfi Kırdar Istanbul, Wels Festival, Ludwigsburg Festival, Budapest Spring Festival and Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Upon his words it was a very special and profound experience for himself, to perform at the Edison Awards Concert 2004 together with Maxim Vengerov and the legendary Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich conducting the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Same year folowed duo concerts with the pianist Fazıl Say in Turkey.

The folowing years continued with concerts and festivals in Turkey and abroad.

In 2008 Ulucan was guest at the Istanbul International Music Festival performing as Soloist of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Ankara, interpreting A.Adnan Saygun's Violin Concerto. Same year he went to a South Korea Concert Tour as Soloist of Antalya Symphony Orchestra performing Paganini's Violin Concerto No2"La Campanella"

In 2009 followed concerts in England and Wales together with the pianist Evgenia Startseva and the Edinburgh Quartett. Same year Ulucan recorded the Album "Bir ağaç gibi" together with his sisters, the pianist Birsen Ulucan and the violinist Ayşen Ulucan, the latter being released the same year by Lila Müzik Label.

In 2010-2011 folowed concerts with Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra,Hezarfen Ensemble, Bursa Symphony, Antalya Symphony and The Presidential Symphony Orchestras. In the summer of 2011 Ulucan was guest artist at the International Istanbul Festival playing together with Isabelle van Keulen,Birsen Ulucan,Alisia Margulis and Christian Poltera at "Festival Encounters".

In March 2012 Özcan Ulucan was invited to to take part at the Budapest Spring Festival, playing again with Maxim Vengerov who had paused giving concerts for almost three years due to an injury of his arm.They performed together with Ferenc Liszt Chamber Orchestra playing Bach Double Concerto and Mozart Sinfonia Concertante. Same year followed Solo concerts in Kosovo and Turkey and Chamber Music concerts with Hezarfen Ensemble in Turkey, Hungary, Germany,Holland and England.

Özcan Ulucan currently resides in İstanbul, giving Solo and Chamber Music concerts both as a Violinst and Viola player. He also teaches at the Mimar Sinan University Music Academy and is being a frequent guest as Soloist and teacher at the Klasik Keyifler Music Festival and Summer Academy in Cappadocia. The artist plays on a 18th century violin of unknown master.
